Dr. Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank posts about CBSE results.
The board exams are an important event, but class 10th result this year has been different from all the previous ones due to its unique marking scheme. 10th or matriculation is one of the most anticipated results in the country and on July 15 (Wednesday) around 12:00 in noon, CENTRAL BOARD OF SECONDARY EDUCATION (CBSE) will release the results for over 18 lakh students who appeared for the class 10 boards earlier this year as stated by Dr. Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank (Union cabinet minister of human resource development, the government of India) in his Twitter handle.
CBSE had informed the Supreme Court last month that it will declare class 10th and 12th board exam results by mid-July, after it decides to cancel all pending exams for class 10th and 12th in wake of the coronavirus crisis. The Board had also said that the results will be announced based on the new assessment scheme.

The marking scheme this year
This marking scheme this year is a bit different, as per the Board, the subjects for which examination could not be held, marks will be based on the ‘average of best of three subjects’ for which the student has already given the exam. In case a student has appeared for only three papers, the assessment will be made based on the best of two and for limited students who have appeared for only one or two exams, the marks obtained in the internal or practicals will be considered.
Last year’s class 10th results- How it went?
In 2019, a total of 17, 61,078 students appeared for the CBSE Class 10 Board exams out of which 91.1 percent candidates passed the exams with Girls outflanking boys by over 2 percent.
This year result- What will be the impact ?
Going by the pattern of recently released CBSE class 12th results and other state boards released in a similar format, the pass percentage will only increase, all thanks to this formulae. A record high of over 5 percent is seen in the CBSE class 12 results this year. Last year, 91.1 percent of the students cleared the exam which was about a four percent increase from 2018, and this is expected to go upwards this year too.
This year probably no supplementary and compartment exams
Students who do not manage to pass or fail in one or two subjects will have to wait and give supplementary exams The dates of which are not yet out. Several states including Telangana have promoted all of their students who were to appear for these supplementary exams; as they did not deem it fit to hold exams due to the current pandemic.
The students have worked hard for the whole year in preparation of their board exams and it holds quite a meaning for them but the current situation of the widespread pandemic has poured cold water on their efforts. The unique situation calls for an unique solution and the marking scheme this year came as such a quick fix. This was a good news for some while a disappointment for others, but no doubt that it will bring a boost in the results from previous years comparatively. The anticipation is immense and the wait is till the declaration of the results.
